Will Wearing Masks Become a Fad out of Fear?

One of the most popular topics that we discuss on our Sunday night phone chats is the wearing of masks. I am not going to get into the entire concept of why it has to be done, because we all know why. Our Government believes it’s a way of preventing the spread of Covid19.
I would be less than honest if I didn’t tell you how frustrated I am when I put this thing on my face. However, I do it because Government thinks it’s necessary at certain times. With that said, there has been talk about how much of society is reluctant to remove their masks when it’s time to do so, because these people don’t want to be scrutinized by others who feel they have to continue wearing them even when mask mandates are lifted. If this is true, this will delay the old normal. Imagine people wearing masks when the pandemic is over because they are used to wearing them, or because they are afraid of being reported by squealers who report pandemic rebellion.
Last week, I learned that both President Biden and Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker declared that if we are fully vaccinated, that we will no longer have to wear masks outdoors. Trust me, I will be more than happy to oblige our President and Governor, as long as they believe it’s safe to remove our masks. Let those who continue to wear masks outdoors after the mandate is lifted regard the rest of us as doing the wrong thing. If Governor Baker and President Biden tell us that removing our masks is the right thing to do, then I will do it.
